K-5TH GRADE PROGRAMS

2A – Writing (1st – 2nd)
Using the Writers Workshop method of instruction, both the teacher and the students will model and demonstrate their writing skills using various techniques in narrative writing, informational writing, opinion writing, and poetry! Bring out your inner author!

2C – Math Blasters (2nd – 3rd)
Students will improve in math computation through daily practice of +,-,x and division. Math Steps will be used to practice basic skills and students will also create Math Journals for practice Pre-algebra concepts such as real numbers, the order of operations (PEMDAS), solving equations, and strategies for solving word problems. FUN FRIDAYS will be set aside for math games to show that math can be FUN! Assessments will be used to measure progress. *Math Remediation

2D – Math Stars! (K) 
*Only offered for students who have completed a TK Program and will be entering K in the fall.
In this session, we will get the opportunity to explore math concepts through games and hands-on activities. We will build teamwork through group collaboration (puzzles, pictures Sudoku). We will also strengthen counting and cardinality, creating pictures with common 2-dimensional shapes, and patterns.

2E – Math Masters  (2nd – 3rd)
Come join Math Masters! Students will expand their mathematical horizons, improve problem-solving skills, and have fun while doing it! Learning is personalized and aligned to the Common Core Math Standards. *Math Enrichment

2F – Music and Rock (3rd – 8th) 

Organized like a standard Christian Rock ensemble, students will learn the basics of the guitar, bass, keyboard and drums. Learn how to read classical music notation as well as tablature for each instrument. Students will get hands on experience with all of the instruments in a Christian Rock group and will learn how to set up for live performance. We will also talk about the basics of music recording and production.
Students are not required to own any instrument; however, it if the student has an instrument preference, it is recommended that Students have access to that instrument so they can practice outside of school.

2G – Tennis (Intermediate Skills) 

Our own Mr. R is giving tennis lessons for intermediate players - a student who has played before and knows the basics.  We will go over forehand and backhand swings, volleys, and tips on how to serve!  We’ll practice our skills by playing tennis games, too! Come prepared with your own racket!

2H – Science Lab (2nd - 4th)
Explore science with fun hands on experiments. This class will explore the exciting fields of physical, chemical and earth science. Experiments will include making glowing soda and green slime. Each week will be and exciting learning experience as students explore with each science experiment.

2J – Computer Program (5th - 6th)
Students will be introduced to programming and will explore different programs to create interactive stories, animations, and games. By learning the fundamentals of programming, students will have an opportunity to collaborate, think creatively, and develop reasoning skills. Students of all computer-literacy levels will have a chance to use technology to make their own unique creations.

2K – Chess (1st- 8th) 
Coach Ari brings our the very best in every student and encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, and critical thinking skills to learn to master the game of chess! It's a high-energy, competitive, and engaging environment! Your child will LOVE their experience!

2L Discovering Amazing Artists (4th-5th)
In this art program students will establish self-confidence and will develop aesthetic judgement through analyzing and creating art. Students will explore and experiment with different elements of art (line, shape, color, texture, pattern, space, etc.) Students will evaluate the work of famous artists and will communicate responses to their art, like an art enthusiast. Additionally, students will recreate the works of the Great Masters themselves (Georgia O’Keefe, Monet, Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, etc.). Students will tie personal and cultural experiences with the art pieces they create giving them individuality.

2N- Miss Robyn's Summer Sweat Showdown (Fitness Class)
(4th-5th)

Students will experience a full-body workout that will help them build cardio endurance and strength while learning the importance of physical fitness and how it relates to their health. Each day we will begin with cardio to warm the body up, followed by some stretching.  Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be more cardio endurance-based. Tuesday and Thursday will be more strength-based. We will play fitness games and have fun, while getting fit! Every class will end with a 5-10min restorative yoga flow to relax and restore their muscles and minds. At the beginning of each week, students will write down fitness goals they would like to improve on and/or achieve that week.  At the end of each week, we will go over their goals and discuss the importance of setting goals and following through to achieve them.   (Space is limited. Max of 18 students per class).
